Saturn 3D printer

In the ATMAT Saturn industrial 3D printer, a big benefit is the large working chamber, closed with a sliding door, secured with a security lock. Closed space enables printing from materials with high shrinkage (e.g. ABS) to ensure stable temperature conditions and protect the printed elements from e.g. rapid temperature changes.

 

A closed working chamber can be heated by the user to a maximum temperature of 45 degrees C. Temperature control inside the machine keeps the optimum heat value of the printing environment, prevents delamination of the material, or tearing the print from the tabletop. 

 

The chamber is equipped with a HEPA air filter and an active fan to speed up air exchange, which is built-in at the back of the printer case. The size of filtered pollutants is 20 [цm].

4-zone heating system

 

Before we start making large models, especially when printing from demanding materials, we must remember to heat the work platform.

 

The granite work table in the printer heats up to 100 degrees C. The four-zone heating system used in the large-scale 3D printer makes the whole surface of the work platform warm up to the expected temperature.

 

The Saturn 3D printer is equipped with two ceramic plates. Before starting work, one of the plates should be placed on a granite table — the element is printed directly on the ceramic surface, which is pulled out of the 3D printer with a printout when the work is finished. This allows you to place another plate in the device and start making a new model, with no need to wait for the printer to cool down.

 

Level work table = better print quality

 

Calibrating the worktable in a 3D printer is a guarantee of better quality and precision of the printed model. ATMAT Saturn does this semi-automatically.

 

The laser sensor, installed in the printer, measures at three points the values from which the table must be adjusted. The correction values and direction are displayed on the printer's control panel. The user makes corrections either manually or with a flat key, depending on the size of the deviation.

After the changes have been made, the measurement procedure must be restarted - we can only use a large 3D printer once the distance measured by the laser has been accepted by the machine.

 

If the machine's frame is unadjusted, an automatic procedure should be used to restore its correct setting. In this case, the frame is leveled by inductive sensors.
