Production lines in manufacturing companies consist of many devices and machines, both fully automatic and operated by skilled workers. To move goods of different sizes, shapes, and weights, conveyors, also called industrial transporters, are used. What are these devices? What types can be distinguished? And what are the advantages of their implementation in an enterprise?

Industry 4.0 is a revolution that has been underway for just over a decade, but it is mainly the large multinational companies that have the capital, knowledge, and capabilities to dynamically follow the spirit of change. Smaller companies and enterprises whose production does not rely on large volumes do not see an opportunity in implementing automation. However, there are areas where changes, even small ones, can significantly facilitate and improve the functioning of industrial processes. What areas to pay attention to prepare a business for the challenges of Industry 4.0?

Currently, there is much talk about the role of Industry 4.0 in the development of modern companies. On May 27-28, 2021, the seventh edition of the conference was held: "Young Researchers' Innovative Ideas: Science - Start-Ups - Industry" 2021. During the conference, Michał Góra and Robert Grolik presented their research work on large-scale 3D printing. The results of the research discussed in the speeches are the result of work carried out under the project “Developed technologies, consisting of a number of solutions, improving the quality of 3D printing and enabling large-size and multi-color printing” co-financed by The National Centre for Research and Development No. POIR.01.01.01-00-2064/15.

The road to Industry 4.0 was initiated by the introduction of mechanical manufacturing powered by water and steam. The cradle of industrial development was Great Britain (England and Scotland), which was ahead of other countries in terms of the number of innovations introduced to the industry. How did subsequent stages develop, which inventions played a key role and what is Industry 4.0 in terms of the current dynamic development of enterprises?

Investing in robotization is a big step for a company. Especially when so far many mechanical operations were performed by employees. However, in rapidly growing companies, especially manufacturing, repeatability of actions and the speed of their implementation on a daily, monthly, and annual scale results in a significant increase in revenue. 3D printing in Poland and worldwide is still developing. We are not only talking about producing from thermoplastic materials but also resins, metal, or even concrete. However, the crucial aspect of this field is the constant search for the answer to the question: "What is the most effective way to use this technology in practice?". However, to make the use of 3D printing more and more popular and more frequently and widely used, it is necessary to develop the materials and devices that support them. 

3D printing is successfully used to produce architectural models. The additive manufacturing technology ensures quality, durability, and precision even when precise details are printed. One of our latest realizations is the model of the Kazimierz Górski Stadium in Płock. The mock-up was printed on Signal Pro and Galaxy 3D printers.

R&D projects carried out in Poland and worldwide have a significant role in the development of the economy and acceleration of civilization development. They make it possible to introduce product or service innovations to the market, but also increase the competitiveness of enterprises. How do we know so much about it?

For most of us, the ability to move is like breathing - it is obvious, not a benefit. The statistics from 2019 show that in Poland there are 6 million people with disabilities and over 200,000 children (under 15 years of age) have limited ability to move. The chance to improve their mobility and increase their social and professional activity is rehabilitation. If people with physical disabilities have a desire to get up and start exercising, this is a large part of the success. However, modern methods of rehabilitation and the opportunity to take advantage of them are an important part. For this reason, projects for an exoskeleton have begun.

The Forest Technique Centre in Jarocin is an institution that deals with, among other things, designing and manufacturing machines and equipment for forest management. The Centre's offer includes, among others, plant growing machines, equipment for soil preparation and clearing of logs, tools for forest protection, and plant care. However, the Centre is still developing new solutions, for which it has been using a 3D Galaxy ATMAT printer since 2020.

3D printers are used in industrial, automotive, foundry, aviation, medical and research institutes. They are highly valued during the creation of prototypes, tools, and subassemblies, as well as in small series production or the production of unique, personalized elements.
